Using Twitter in Your Network Marketing Business

Six months ago, I had no idea what Twitter was. Today, I am not only following many different people but I also have many followers.

For those not familiar with Twitter, it's a social networking site. What makes Twitter different is that you are limited to only 140 characters per post or message. You have just one or two sentences to convey your message to others.

So, how can you use this site to build your network marketing business? I use it many different ways:

1. I post what I'm doing at the moment. There is a box that says "what are you doing?" I answer the question with one or two sentences. For example, just a few minutes ago I typed "I'm writing an article." Every person following me will be able to read this and will know what I'm doing. If I'm making something for dinner, I might type "trying a new chicken recipe for dinner." What happens from these one sentence updates are that others will answer me both publicly and also privately. I've had some wonderful exchanges with complete strangers after posting what I'm doing.

2. I read what others are doing and I comment to them. I will sometimes comment publicly but more often, I prefer to comment privately to start a conversation. Isn't the whole basis of network marketing, relationship building? It's hard to build relationships publicly.

3. When I write a new blog post, I will post a link to that post. Those following me now have the opportunity to read my most recent blog post. I have 3 blogs. I can make 3 different posts on Twitter to let others know about each of the blog posts I've written.

4. Since I'm an article writer, I submit my articles to those directories that work with Twitter. I can let others know about my articles through my submissions to these article directories.

In addition to all of the above, you can create multiple accounts on Twitter. Consider creating an account where your only followers are your team members. You can type messages to your entire team letting them know what is going on with the company at any given time. These are just quick one and two sentence announcements to your team. For example "don't forget tonight's conference call" or "new catalog went on sale today." This is a wonderful and quick way to stay in constant communication with your entire team.

Create a Twitter account and start networking with the other Twitter users. You'll find yourself building new relationships in no time at all.

I am a crescent roll lover. This is a great recipe using Pillsbury
Crescent Rolls.

Crunchy Chicken Crescents

2 cups cooked, chopped chicken
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
� cup butter, melted
� cup herb seasoned stuffing crumbs
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon chives, chopped
� teaspoon salt
2 packages of crescent rolls

Mix cream cheese, chicken, chives, milk and salt in a bowl.

Unroll the crescent rolls. You�ll have 4 rectangles. Make sure dough is secure at perforations. Place about � cup of the chicken mixture onto center of each rectangle of dough. Fold dough over filling and pinch edges to seal. Dip each roll into melted butter and then roll in stuffing crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Becoming a Leader in Direct Sales

Direct sales is all about creating sales. You�ll create personal sales retailing the company products to individual customers and you�ll create team sales by building a team and supporting their sales efforts.

In order to lead a team, you�ll need to develop and learn some leadership skills.

Leadership is learned. We are not born with leadership skills. Think of the many leaders you know. There are leaders in your local PTA. There are leaders in your community. There are world leaders. Each leader we know learned the skills that brought them to be the leader they are today.

There are several ways to learn leadership skills:

1. Read books - Our local bookstore has an entire section on leadership. I�ve read books by several different authors. You�ll find that men and women teach a little bit differently and you�ll find that depending on profession, skills may be taught a bit differently also. If finances don�t allow a book budget right now, use your local library. I�ve found some real gems at our library.

2. Subscribe to newsletters � One of my favorite authors is John Maxwell. Not only have I read most of his books, I also subscribe to his newsletter. Each newsletter offers new ideas and new food for thought.

3. Attend seminars � Over the years I�ve attended seminars ranging from how to deal with difficult people to how to improve your listening skills. There are so many topics out there to choose from. Not only will these seminars help you become a better leader, but they will help you in every relationship you are involved in, business and personal.

So what are some of the topics you should consider learning about?

1. Listening � I know that we all have two ears and we all hear, however really listening to the person speaking is a learned skill.

2. Communicating � I continue to learn more and more about communication. It is such a fine art. Each person we speak to and interact with is unique. How we communicate with one person may not be the same as how we communicate with another person. Learning how to effectively get our message to each unique individual is key in leading a team.

3. Problem solving � If you are in direct sales, problems will come up. For example, it�s December and a top selling product has become unavailable. You need the skills to be able to help your team accept this in a positive way so that sales are not lost. You need to be able to help your team present this small obstacle to their customers, so that they also will not lose the potential sales.

Consider investing 30-60 minutes per week into learning and developing your leadership skills to help you build a larger direct sales team.

This is a recipe that came from Kraft. If you love tater tots, you'll enjoy this recipe:

1 lb. ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 can (10-3/4 oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup (I don't like mushroom so I use cream of chicken)
1/4 cup milk
1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 lb. (1/2 of 32-oz. pkg.) frozen tater tots

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Brown ground beef and onions in large skillet, stirring occasionally; drain. Pour into 2-qt. casserole dish.

In a bowl, mix soup and milk; pour over meat mixture. Top with layers of vegetables, cheese and potatoes.

Bake fo 45 minuntes or until potatoes are golden brown and casserole is heated through.

Lemon Cheesecake

2 � cups crushed graham crackers, about 18 full crackers
1 � 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
2 cups milk
� cup unsalted butter, melted
� cup sugar
1 small package instant lemon pudding

Mix together the graham cracker crumbs, sugar and butter. Press half the mixture into an 8x8 casserole dish. Refrigerate for 60 minutes.

In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese and � cup of the milk. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer. Add the remaining milk and lemon pudding and beat until smooth, about 2 minutes.

Pour mixture onto chilled crust. Top with remaining crumbs and refrigerate overnight. Should be completely chilled and set. Cut into squares and serve.
